I’m Glad They Cancelled the Lebanese Army Festival in Beirut

I do not know who was behind this good thought, however organizing a competition to have a good time the Lebanese Military’s victory few days after dad and mom of the martyred troopers had buried their youngsters is a horrible thought, to not point out that the timing was a horrible one, on a Thursday afternoon in Martyrs Sq.!

On one other observe, it was fairly awkward seeing a Protection Minister, together with the Tourism Minister, calling for such festivities in a press convention. In all circumstances, it’s good that they cancelled it and blamed it on logistics, 1) as a result of the Lebanese Military must be refrained from electoral campaigns and politics 2) out of respect for the households of the slain troopers.
